ABNT
A ABNT is the official representative in Brazil of the following international entities: ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and the regional standardization entities COPANT (Pan-American Commission of Technical Standards) and AMN (Mercosul Association of Standardization).
It was founded in 1940 to provide the base for the necessary standardization for technical development, aside from:
- elaborate technical standards and promote their use in the scientific, technical, industrial, commercial, agricultural, service and other correlated fields, aside from making sure they are updated;
- encourage and promote the participation of the technical communities in the research, the development and the dissemination of the standardization in the country;
- represent Brazil at the international entities of technical standardization, especially ISO and IEC.
ABNT is the official representative in Brazil of the following international entities: ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IEC (International Eletrotechnical Commission) and regional standardization entities COPANT (Pan-American Commission of Technical Standards) and AMN (Mercosul Association of Standardization).

The Study Commissions of the CB-26 take part in the Meetings of the corresponding Technical Committees of ISO, assuring Brazil’s representativeness in the elaboration of the Standards.
